Dr Roland Owen

Background

Dr Roland Owen graduated from the University Of Wales College Of Medicine in 1998 and completed his RACGP training in 2005. After completing his studies in Wales he trained in Cardiff before moving on to work and train in the Midlands in England. Roland came to work in Australia spending a year in Logan followed by Melbourne before he fell in love with South East Queensland and made Toowoomba his home.

After returning to England and completing his GP training in the Bristol area, he and his soon-to-be wife immigrated permanently to Toowoomba. In 2006 Roland started working at Village Medical Centre where he continues to work today.

Dr Owen has been involved in GP registrar training over the past ten years and has enjoyed being involved with the training and personal growth of many outstanding young doctors. Roland have been involved in healthcare politics and advocacy over the last eight years helping lead the development of primary care in our region having been first drawn to this area being one of the younger GPs and seeing a need to attract and retain more younger doctors to the Toowoomba region. Dr Owen has served on the board of GP Connections (our local former division of General Practice) for a five year period and was Chair for the final two years.
