It is the responsibility of each patient to follow up their test or procedure results with the practice, unless otherwise advised by their doctor. General processing times for blood tests are a minimum of three (3) days; however, your doctor will advise you of expected timeframes relevant to your specific tests.

Your doctor will discuss with you the appropriate method of communication for your results. Depending on the nature of the results, your consent, and how the results are reviewed and marked by the GP, results may be communicated via:

  • Secure SMS/text message
  • Telephone call from one of our Registered Nurses
  • A non-urgent recall request
  • Direct discussion with your doctor

Results may be communicated by phone or text where clinically appropriate and consent has been provided. If a result requires urgent or further clinical action, you will be contacted directly by a member of our clinical team.

Each time you are contacted by clinic staff, you will be required to confirm three points of identification: your full name, date of birth, and address. This ensures results are released to the correct patient. If you wish for another person to receive results on your behalf, you must notify the practice in writing prior to the release of results.

Only a Doctor or Nurse will provide specific clinical information relating to test results. Reception staff may only confirm whether results are available and whether the doctor has reviewed them and identified that no further action is required.
